It’s FUN raising my kids in Los Angeles

I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people say

“I would never ever want to raise my kids in LA.”

It’s kinda cool to live in a city so misunderstood.

‘Cause truly you can’t believe the kinds of things we have in our ‘hood.

Will Rogers Picnic - June 2010

Would you believe me if I told you this photo was snapped just 15 minutes from our home?

On a Saturday June evening when the fog from the beach was just rolling in?

And that the kids fed the horses with long stems of grass with no one telling them what not to do?

And the cost of this childhood memory was absolutely free?

This is LA.

And I am so glad that I am raising my kids here.

This week You Capture’s theme was FUN. I had no idea the fun that would transpire in the last week but our trip to Will Rogers State Park on Saturday proved to be the definition of fun.

Your photo made me think of The Alisal. I’m calling them right now to find out about joining y’all next year.

I couldn’t agree more. The possibilities for outdoor adventures here are fantastic. Weekends become mini adventures! Jackie

I totally understand. If I asked people to guess the biggest closest city to this photo, I think LA would have come in last. 🙂

I lived in LA for many years. When I moved to the Desert Southwest I really missed the ocean.

Love! We live on a farm with no animals, but the other day we walked past the neighbors cows and my kids fed them grass. I’d forgotten how long their tongues are! As we left, the cows tried to follow us, running to the end of the pasture nearest us!

You think you get a hard time about LA? Try telling folks you’re raising kids in Sin City. I wish I had a dine for every time I heard a remark along the lines of “I’m here to make some money and then I’ll leave when I’m ready to have kids. Vegas is no place for kids.” Well, I beg to differ.

And for what it’s worth, I grew up in LA and I turned out JUST fine, thankyouverymuch! 😉
